Medical Society of New Jersey issued the following announcement.
MSNJ Legislative Update: MSNJ continues to advocate on behalf of our physician members - solidifying our place as the voice for physicians in Trenton. The following are some updates on recent legislative initiatives our team has been working on this week:
• Today, MSNJ’s Director of Government Relations Joshua Bengal testified on the Out of Network Arbitration Process. These bills (A4032 and S1177) would make small but important changes to refine the state’s out of network arbitration system - increasing the amount of time clinicians have to request arbitration and ensuring that arbitration decisions contain adequate reasoning for the arbitrator’s findings. We are pleased that the Assembly Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee agrees with the need to make refinement to the arbitration process. • MSNJ has also registered its support for two important bills that were heard by the Assembly Health Committee (A1989 and A2572) that would reduce the risk of New Jersey resident’s addiction to menthol cigarettes and flavored electronic smoking devices.
